The Gammadda Movement took a small step towards helping Sri Lankans forced to stand in queues by distributing chilled bottles of water at selected locations around Sri Lanka. The effort is led by the Gammadda V Force Volunteers, who stepped up at short notice to help ease the burden of people standing for hours in queues in the scorching heat.
The volunteers made sure that used bottles were collected and removed responsibly.
Many ordinary citizens and organizations came forward as soon as the call went out, to support the water distribution.
Distribution took place at selected queues in Colombo, Gampaha, Kurunegala, Kandy, Badulla, Kalutara, Matara, Rathnapura and Galle.
