Jayasirigama is home to more than 260 families. Before they only got water from the DS which they had to purchase by the litre. Gammadda was able to construct a well, water storage and water distribution system to all the houses. Through this project Pannala, Jayasirigama, Kekilapitiya were able to get clean drinking water.
With the drying up of wells in the area, 260 families had to depend on the little water they received from the Pannala Pradesiya Sabha once a week. The residents of Jayasirigama stated that the water they receive is nowhere near the amount they need for the day to day requirements.
The first phase of the project saw the construction of a well in the locality which enabled water to be transported to fill tanks 700m away. The second phase of this project involved the construction of water storage facilities while the third phase, involved the distribution of water via pipes, allowing the residents to satisfy their requirements. Through this project Pannala, Jayasirigama, Kekilapitiya were able to get clean drinking water. That covers 800 families living in these areas.
