Provide poor deprived students of Mahawa Thumbullegama Maha Vidyalaya an opportunity to develop their minds in a holistic manner that includes music by providing them with musical instruments.
Mahawa Thumbullegama Maha Vidyalaya is a school in the economically deprived area of the Kurunegela District. It belongs to the Mahawa Education Zone. There are currently 400 students with classes offered from grades 1-13. These are mostly children of low income parents who are daily wage laborers or subsistence farmers. The school offers a music as an extra curricular activity. The children who participate in this activity are very enthusiastic and very talented. However the program has very few instruments. It currently relies on neighboring schools to practice and perform with. They are requesting some musical instruments to strengthen their music program.
The school is requesting the following musical instruments to develop their music program: Double Reed Serpina x1 Indian Tabla x1 Organ x1 Bass Drum x1 Violin x2
